We all breathe a sigh of relief once in a while, when things don’t turn out as
bad as we had feared. Looking back on your childhood years, do you
remember the time your parents were out, and you were home alone, or with
your siblings? Do you remember the dread you felt thinking about how to
break the news to them about the shattered window, and how it happened?
Normally, for something like that, you would have received a good scolding
and or whipping. How would you have felt if your parents’ reaction to the
shattered window was, “that’s okay, don’t worry about it, we’ll take care of
it”? I am sure you would have let out a sigh of relief in disbelief.
Well, that is what happened when we admitted our sins to God. His word
says the soul that sins is the one who will die (Eze 18:4b), so it is natural to
be a bit nervous about facing God, considering how sinful we are. But God however, revealed
His intention and plan, to not hold us accountable for our sins.
Instead of the punishment we deserve, He said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus,
and you will be saved” (Acts 16:31). Wow, we did not get what we
deserved; we got mercy and forgiveness! What a sigh of relief!
However, if you’re reading this and you have never admitted your sins to
God, this is your chance; He is waiting for you. He has made the provision
for your forgiveness; Jesus paid it all! Call on Him today!
